Commissions Against Cancer is a small, non-profit group of artists who provide our art skills in exchange for donations. 100% of all profits goes towards purchasing art supplies to create Art Gift Baskets for Cancer patients.

This project is run by primarily 10th-grade students as part of our school's "Change the World Project." However, we have artists from outside our school of different ages and skill levels. These artists have volunteered their time and energy to provide artwork for those who wish to donate to our cause.

The goal of this project is to provide art supply gift baskets to cancer patients at the Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, Va. Cancer patients often have a difficult time due to the different emotional and physical impacts that cancer brings into their lives. Researchers at the Cancer Center have discovered that art therapy can help calm, satisfy and discover the source of a patient's pain. Art and creating art work has over the years proven to be calming technique, which is why we not only chose to donate art supplies, but to provide artwork to the donators.

FAQ

Q: When is the last day?

A: March 26th 2017

Q: Regarding volunteering as an artist, will I get any financial compensation for this?

A: This program is non-profit and the artists will receive no money in return. All profits earned will be donated.

Q: Regarding volunteering as an artist, how will my art get to the buyer?

A: If your art is digital, then it will be emailed to the buyer. If your art is traditional and can be scanned, it will also be emailed. Any traditional works that can not be scanned, like paintings, 3D works etc. will be mailed.

Q: Having never heard of this project before, I'm curious about the credibility. Who can I contact to get some reassurance?

A: There is a variety of people whom you can contact if you wish. Your primary contact should be elizibeth_lucas@ccpsnet.net .While we do not recommend it because they are often busy, one of the places you can contact is the Massey Cancer Center inquiring about Hana Parece's Change the World Project.
